The developers will do what the supervisor tells them to do ... noone wants to be without a job this days ... I've been working closely with 70 web developers for 5 years and I know how things work and whatever problem there is with an aplication at the end the blame is on developers ... .. so I'm not surprised they are not posing on this thread anymore , but I am sure they are watching closely.
As long as we started a "hate" thread noone will reply... they will stick to the code. Posting some snippet of error codes you guys get might help bring them back.
I was not always receiving the error code after trying to login but only once every 4-5 times.

By the way , is ANY of you guys from US ? Just wanted to check if the problem is region related or something else ?
What regional settings you running on the machines ? What region is your PayPal ? Tried to match the OS language / regional settings on the machine with the country of your PayPal ?
I am thinking that this month I got an email from paypal that said : "PayPal is making a change on the default language settings for our Danish speaking users on November 2008. At that time, your checkout flow will automatically convert to pages in Danish if the Buyer's Country setting on your website is set to a Danish speaking country or not yet set at all. This change will not affect eBay checkout.
If you sell primarily to non-Danish speakers and wish to maintain your checkout pages in a language other than Danish, please follow the steps below. If you want to maintain English as the default language, simply set the Buyer's Country to United States." After this update was performed I could sucessfully login to my PayPal and the error was not there anymore.

I'm in the UK and my account did have GBP (£) as the default curreny but the day of the error I did change the default currency to USD ($) but I didn't get the error right after I had made this change so I am unsure if that was the cause. I have tried changing the PayPal website to Spanish (which I can't understand lol) and logging in but no luck. I can't for the life of me understand why we are having to do this troubleshooting ourselves, PayPal should have every one of their technical team onto this and they shouldn't stop working until it is resolved!

To all, We are actively looking for the root cause. And yes, we did associate the currency change triggers the error for 'some' not all of the error you are seeing. There is a possible work around, after you get the error message, click on the help link, this should give you the account tab. The engineering department is actively working to resolve this.
